New Patients
Your First Visit to Serenity Dental
Plan for about an hour. We see patients of every age, starting from age one, and there is no obligation to commit to any treatment on the day.
What happens at your first appointment
A comprehensive exam
We look at your teeth, gums, bite, and existing dental work, and talk through anything that has been bothering you.
A full set of digital X-rays
Radiographs let us see what an exam alone cannot — between teeth, below the gumline, and around the roots.
A cleaning
Most new patients have their cleaning at this same appointment rather than coming back for it separately.
A treatment plan, if you need one
If anything needs attention, we explain what and why, and lay out the options before you decide anything.
Complete your forms before you arrive
New patient forms are completed digitally, and we ask for them at least 24 hours before your appointment. We text you a link once your appointment is booked, or email it instead if you prefer. You can also start them here at any time.
Patient FormsWhat to bring
- Photo ID or driver's license
- Your insurance card, if you have dental insurance
- Your completed new patient forms
- A method of payment, if any is due on the day
If you find dental visits difficult
Plenty of people do, and it is worth telling us before we start rather than sitting with it. We will explain what we are doing and why, at whatever level of detail helps, and we will stop if you need us to.
Oral sedation is available in selected cases. If you think that might make treatment manageable for you, raise it when you book and we can discuss whether it is appropriate.
Booking and scheduling
Routine cleanings are usually booked six months ahead — we will schedule your next one while you are still in the chair. If you have not booked in advance, we can normally fit you in within a week.
For a dental emergency outside office hours, call or text (732) 920-6677. Messages to that number reach a doctor directly.
